LINKS FOR LAFAYETTE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

On September 15th we hosted 144 golfers and an additional 40 dinner guests to an 18-hole golf scramble at Whitmoor Country Club. It was a gorgeous day until after 14 holes when the rain poured and the lightning lit the skies. Our 18-hole scramble turned into a 14-hole scramble, but that didn’t dampen the mood. Thanks to all of our sponsors, golfers and those that bought auction items and pledge pals. The event netted $48,000 for Lafayette’s Worker’s Challenge Fund – a great way to end our fiscal year! A special thanks to Sam’s Club #8182 in Des Peres. Seven Sam’s employees volunteered their time to help us out for the day – and they did a great job!

LAFAYETTE TURNS 40 AND HONORS THEIR ORIGINAL EMPLOYEE!

In 1976, Apple Computers was formed, gas was .59 a gallon, Connect Four was a popular game, and Kenny McLuen started working at the newly formed Lafayette Industries. On Sept. 13th everyone celebrated Kenny as he accepted congratulations from Lafayette’s employees and staff. Thank you Kenny for 40 years of hard work!

MABEE FOUNDATION GRANT FOR NORTH EXPANSION

This August Lafayette was granted $270,000 by Mabee Foundation of Tulsa. Lafayette had to meet a challenge of raising $922,000 from other sources within a 12-month period in order to receive the grant. A Summer Appeal mailing to all of our regular donors got us over the finish line just in time to meet the challenge. Special thanks to the Productive Living Board of St. Louis for a $2.3 million grant that started the project and thanks to all of the corporations, community groups and private donors. The $4,000,000 expansion should be completed at our Berkeley facility in October 2016.

2ND ANNUAL EMPLOYEE CELEBRATION PICNIC

We were granted an absolutely beautiful day with sunny skies and cool breezes for our picnic on Sunday, June 5th. We had a turnout of nearly 400 people at McDonnell Park in St. Ann. The hot dogs were the best and biggest ever – and we consumed all 550! The day came complete with a photo booth, face painting and other activities, with a “Bubble Magic” presentation by Magic House. A good time seemed to be had by all!
